Wilburt “ Dutch” Zorn was a standout football, basketball and track athlete during some of Peru’s “ glory years” in the mid -1920’s. Zorn went on to enjoy a renowned teaching and coaching career after graduating in 1928. He is best remembered for his tenure at Gothenburg (Neb.) from 1944-71, where his football and basketball teams excelled and his track programs were among the state’s finest, winning five state championships. One of Nebraska’s true coaching giants, Dutch Zorn passed away in 1978.
