Whether with the bat or with the glove, Whip Wilson was one of the top softball players ever to take the field for Peru State. From 1977-80, the Oakland, Iowa native posted a remarkable .371 career batting average and established a number of school batting records, including eight which still stood at the time of her induction. A fine defensive player at shortstop, Wilson had speed (setting the career record for stolen bases), power (setting the career home run mark), and a good eye (setting the career record for walks).
