Any talk of the greatest track and cross country runners at Peru State College is bound to include Lou Fritz. The record –setter was one of PSC’s best and most consistent runners ever. A native of Verdon, Neb., Fritz owned 15 PSC cross country and several track records when he graduated 1966. He led the Bobcats to third place in the 1965 NAIA national cross country meet. Long after graduation, he continued to run competitively, including over 70 marathons. Fritz taught for 32 years.
