Few Coaches on any level, anywhere, can boast of more success than was enjoyed by Lon Graf coached Bobcat teams from 1923-29. During Graf’s service to Nebraska’s first college, his football teams were 47-7-6, his track squads were small- college powerhouses and his basketball teams were almost unbeatable, posting 40 wins in 43 games. Graf left Peru for Creighton University, then went to California, where he was a high school teacher and coach for 23 years. One of Peru’s best and most beloved coaches, Graf passed away in 1986.
