(Peru, Neb.) - Junior forward
Courtney Ward (Bartlesville, Okla.) of Peru State College (PSC) was selected the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
The last Player of the Week honor of the 2011-12 season goes to Ward, who was also selected for the accolade back on December 12. Ward averaged 18.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, recorded three steals and three blocked shots while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.
The Bobcats split a pair of games last week to finish with five wins in their first season of HAAC play. Ward tallied a career-high 28 points to go along with 18 rebounds on 12-of-20 shooting in a 69-64 win over Graceland. She then added eight points and eight rebounds to go along with a pair of steals in a season-ending loss at Evangel.
Only one other women's basketball player in the HAAC earned the award more than once. Ward will represent the conference in the running for the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, which will be released no later than Tuesday afternoon.
