(Peru, Neb.) – After leading the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat women's basketball team to their first two wins of the season, junior Katie Potter
(Omaha) was named the HAAC Player of the Week.
Potter helped the Bobcats end a season-long victory drought as Peru State picked up its first two wins as a member of the conference. A native of Omaha, Neb., Potter averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while hitting 10-of-22 field goals, 6-of-11 three-point shots and 7-of-11 free throws.
Rarely leaving the floor for Peru State last weekend, Potter helped the Bobcats to their first victory with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds to go along with six assists against Graceland. Two days later back home against Evangel; she tallied a season-high 20 points as she hit 4-of-5 three-point shots in a 61-59 triumph.
Presently, Potter is averaging 8.86 points per game, having had a slow start scoring early in the season, which is third best for the Bobcats. Also, Potter is the team's third-leading rebounder averaging 3.7 per game. She is second on the team with 39 assists and third on the team with 22 steals.
Potter will represent the conference in the running for the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, which will be released no later than Tuesday afternoon.
